This holiday season will probably be the most memorable for most. Retailers are facing difficult times in keeping companies afloat and is hoping for that big jolt that will boost the economy. However the economy has been on a slow downward spiral to no man’s land. Some designers are using their creative juices to figure out how to survive. One of the ways designers are being innovative is merging with top retailing companies such as Target whose company mission is “Expect More. Pay Less” and Wal-Mart whose company mission is “Help people save money so they can live better”. These two major retailing companies offer something that the consumer just can’t get enough of and that is offering quality merchandise at the lowest price. Some of the designers that you can see at these two major retailers are: Anna Sui, Converse, Liz Lange, and one who I just adore Norma Kamali.
Norma Kamali has done it all by surviving decades in doing what she believes in and that is making women feel confident about themselves. Norma the first to design the sleeping bag coat in 1975 to joining forces with Everlast and Spiegel in 2006 and creating “TIMELESS STYLE COLLECTION” for Wal-Mart in 2008.
On September 17, 2009 Norma Kamali launched a new exciting line– http://www.normakamalibay.com/ at the “Democratization of Fashion presentation. This collection is available exclusively for eBay. All items are less than $300.00. Oh and did I mention that Ms. Kamali has an iPhone Ap. Yes she is truly unstoppable.
“The Democratization of Fashion” was unveiled during New York fashion week right outside the Apple store in Soho to show how technology is transferring fashion into something bigger and greater. As she clearly stated at her fashion show in Soho:
“there’s no saved seats, there’s no front row. It’s first come, first serve. We can’t tell someone who’s an Apple customer to get up for an editor.”. “I’m not starting a trend, I’m just stating a fact. You want to connect to the people.”
With that being said Norma Kamali has launched her “Norma Kamali for Wal-Mart Holiday 2009″ check it out for yourself.

With Wal-Mart great mission to help the consumers save money so they can live better and Norma’s desire to promote self-esteem for woman by providing new ideas, practicality, and price its no wonder these two make a great team.
To me its more than fashion, it’s about making people feel good inside and out. Trust, striving for excellence and humility are some of the key ingredients that make Wal-Mart and so many retail companies so successful. If you don’t have a great recipe in making the consumer feel good about what they are buying then what do you have? What we wear communicates who we are as an individual and shows others our personality as well.
At 64 Norma Kamali never compromised herself and will always remain true to her passion and to her consumers. What more can you ask for!
